Are you referring to the Academy F/A-18A in 1/32 scale or their F/A-18C or D in 1/72 scale? Revell and Hasegawa make an F in 1/48 scale.

Hi Joel
This is the model
You can find it on ebay (from asia) or amazon a little bit more expensive, in all the sites or images says that is 1/48th.

Looks like Italeri/Academy and wonder if it s rebox of the Italei #2619 F/A18F. I couldn't find a review of it either but looks pretty good in the pictures.

This is about the only review I've found on the 1/48 scale Italeri 1/48 scale F/A-18F. And it's next to useless with just a few general comments.

Yep, same review I saw for the Italeri. All I can say blackwoodie is once you get yours, compare the sprues to the review and see if they have the same layout.

I think I need to do a "leap of fait" with this model, as Ernie says in the pictures looks good to me.
Well if I got this models I'll let you know.

G'day...I bought the 1:72 Academy FA18 D kit recently..It cost me $36 Australian...Looks like a great kit even for me as a new modeller ..I glanced through the booklet and seems to be straightforward..The D is the twin seater version..Will be a little while before I tackle it as I have an FA 18 F in 1:72nd (Revell this time) to build first...I do like the Jolly Roger stuff on the Academy model though...Cheers Rod

IIRC the Italeri F/A-18E and F were fairly rough kits of early examples of the type. Maybe even prototypes. I seem to recall some articles out there on how to update them, but it required some work.

Here are a few more reviews of the original Italeri kit and the G update. This is all, of course, assuming the Academy kit you found is the Italeri kit. HTH

Oh yes, the Italeri Super Hornets are rough, poorly detailed (worthless cockpit), intake break down and fit are poor, non blown canopy. The initial issue kits were based off of the FSD/EMD (not prototypes) airframes, so some details are wrong and some erroneous, like the speed brake. Most of these issues were corrected on later or more recent issues of the kit; in 48th too.
Overall, they are "ok" but are far from being the best scale replicas of an F/A-18E or F.
