Hi everyone,
I was thinking about getting back into doing aircraft again just as a side project. So my question to all of you is this, who makes the best 1/72nd and 1/100th scale A10 warthog kits in terms of detail and accuracy? Thank you.

I'm no expert so I can't vouch for it's accuracy but Academy's 1/72 A-10 is pretty good. Nicely detailed and with engraved paneling. I have one in the stash somewhere. Only thing that will need looking at are the kits weapons stores. If memory serves it comes with 2 sets of triple Maverick missiles, a pair of old Paveway 2000lb bombs, and a pair of MER's with 500lb bombs. If you want to model a current aircraft this fit is wrong, but most of what you need for an accurate load can be found in Hasegawa weapons sets. More recent fits usually include cluster bombs and rocket pods, an ECM pod and paired Sidewinders along with just 2 Mavericks. It's available in a couple of different boxing's but the plastic is the same. I'd suggest it as a good starting point.
Hobbyboss also make one but it has no stores from what I remember reading.
Airfix do one that dates back to the 80's, but never seen one in the flesh. The Matchbox kit is apparently based on the prototype and very simplified. Revell have done one in the past, but not sure if it's their own, a Monogram or other rebox.
Not sure if anyone does one at 1/100 but I think Revell have one in 1/144.
Hope this helped.

While I'm not a 1/72 modeler, from the reviews, blogs, and builds I've read, the Academy, Italeri, and Hasegawa kits are currently the top three. All have their issues with shape and accuracy. Strange as it may sound, the Monogram offering once again is the most overall accurate in shape, but has raised panel lines.
