Hello everyone. Happy Holidays.

I am considering purchasing an Airfix 1/24 P51-D. The reviews of this kit seem pretty good although not as positive as the Trumpeter version. My question is, the aftermarket items seem to be designed for the Trumpeter kit. Will they work with the Airfix. I am trying to save a little money.

Have a great day. Be well.

Alex

That one dates from the early 1970s, so you may find some parts on the crude side, especially the operating landing gear with the cavernously empty gear wells...

You should be able to make aftermarket made for the Trumpeter kit fit, sometimes with more or less persuading.

To be honest, if you're looking to do 24th, then you shouldn't be trying to save money too.

For the price of the Airfix kit and the accessories, I'd honestly just scale back (literally) and get the amazing Tamiya 1/32nd kit and have a much better final product.

Just my $.02

I read several reviews of the Tamiya 1/32 P51-D and they all say it's is the best representation of the plane in any scale currently available. Once I have the shekels, it looks like that is the route I will pursue.
