Hi there

A number of major manufacturers keep an eye on Aeroscale and other modelling sites to judge the interest in particular subjects and scales when planning their new kits - in fact, it was one of our industry contacts who suggested running a thread like this!

If anyone's in any doubt that we are in a new Golden Age of modelling, you only have to look at some of the upcoming mainstream releases that I'd never expected to see in my wildest dreams - for instance a 1:32 Flying Flapjack !

But inevitably there are still masses of exciting and important aircraft still begging to be covered - either for the first time, or that have only been available as short-run kits previously.

So, what do you want to see? I'll try to compile the suggestions every so often to make for easy reading - that way, the manufacturers can't claim they missed anything.

And, to kick things off, I'll throw my hat into the ring with just a few of the things I'd like to see as modern mainstream kits:

1:144 Scale

A short list from me, how about a 1/32 Boomerang?

Best wishes to all for 2015.

1/72 Canadiar Argus.

1/144 McDonnell Douglas MD-11
1/144 Lockheed L-1011
1/144 McDonnell Douglas DC-10
Yes, those last two were done 40 years ago. It's time they were done to modern standards instead of yet another Messerspitstang.

Supermarine Scimitar
Avro Canada Canuck

And since the demise of Classic Airframes... We could use a new 1/48 Gannet and a new Battle and... Well someone just buy Classic Airframes and reissue all their kits!

I feel the 1/144 market is under served in general. -with the exception of WWII fightas.

In 1/144 I need some P2V Neptunes of various types. Models of this well beloved aircraft are surprisingly rare in any scale, and practically unobtainable in 1/144.

I need six of these.
My favorite version is the -5 with the magnetometer tail, but the earlier ones with and without gun turrets would also be of interest.

There is no Douglas TBD kit in 1/144.

There has never been a PV-2 Harpoon kit in 1/144. There is a resin PV-1 Ventura but it's hard to come by.

there is no 727-100 kit, only a difficult resin conversion of an ugly, old -200 kit.

I also have been waiting for a GAF Nomad in 1/144 scale.

And I'll second you on the Beaufort! Throw in a Hampden while we're at it!

And a decent Westland Wasp.

Since we're all obviously indulging in substances that the Government would rather we didn't, I'll throw my 2-bits in.

How about:

- an up to standards B-47; 1/72 for sure and maybe 1/48 (I'd love it, my wallet wouldn't)
- ditto on the standards B-52 all major series; 1/72
- Wingnut Wings class Martin MB-2; 1/32 or 1/48
- C-133 Cargomaster; 1/72 (just because)
- updated B-36 Peacemaker; 1/72 (since we're thinking big here)
Oh, did I hear 1/48 Bristol Beaufort?

No more kits in 32nd scale muhahaha

most things 48 scale are fine (all following 48 scale)

I would like a Siebel 204, Fw 58 or the Do 217 J and K (come on Revell...), early Bf 109 (A,B,C,D)

I'm looking forward to Gaspatch's Hs 123

The new Zvezda Pe-2 is very welcome! A very good new Jak-1, 7 and 9 would also be nice. The La-7 could also be redone.

Some fighters need an overhaul. E.g.: Curtiss Hawk H.75 til early P-40 (Flying Tigers, French, Finnish, Russian), MS 406, Bloch 152, Re2000, Hawker Fury, I-15 variants (ICM long promised)

Jets: Harrier FRS.1 (probably Kinetic?), Nesher (dito). L-39

WW1: Hansa-Brandenburg HD.1, W.29 (or W.12), Halberstadt fighters, Roland D.II

Misc: new Opel Blitz, MB L4500, Maultier (different basis), some Ford Variants a la ICM would be nice too, a Pibber and Vietnam ground equipment/Trucks, german WW2 U-Boats and S-Boats

...for startes

all the best

Hi again

Pheww! I think I've managed to copy all those into the original list!

One thing's immediately obvious - 1:48 is overwhelmingly the most popular scale in this sample vote. Manufacturers take note...

Honestly a lot of the stuff in quarterscale could really use an update in 72 as well. Generally I'd be happy with either scale so long as we have a good kit.

Wish lists are always good fun!

I'd love Italeri to reissue the 1/48 AEW.1 Skyraider in FAA markings. Most of the parts are still in with the AD-4, so surely they must have the mold for the underbelly radome somewhere.

As for new tooled stuff, I'd like these in 1/72.
Bristol Beaufort.
Mirage IIIC.
Bristol Freighter and Superfreighter.
Canberra B.2/6 (Think of the possibilities with those!).
RB-57 series.
Lynx, Puma, Gazelle, Scout and Wasp helicopters.
Percival Provost.
Jet Provost series and Strikemaster.
Buccaneer.
FG.1/FGR.2 Phantom.
B-17E
And a LOT more WW1 aircraft. Especially some of the 2-seaters such as Roland's, Rumpler's, Albatros, RE8, FE2b, Ago CII, AEG's, Aviatik's, BE2c, DH9 and countless others. And of course bombers such as the Vimy and the Caproni series.

I'd also like to see Revell do some decent Star Wars kits rather that the pre-painted self-assembly toys they've done so far. Some of the mini-kits are very good, but the larger kits are disappointing. A good 1/72 Millenium Falcon would sell like hot cakes seeing as the Finemolds kit has been discontinued.

Damian if it's any consolation I want a Beaufort so I can build an aircraft of 100 Sqd RAAF, I'll also do a SAAF and RAF machine but the RAAF machine is the main reason. Got to love those twin Bristols! (or P&W)
