Thanks for posting the link, Jessica. I had the chance to crawl through the AEW Shack while pulling AWACS alert duty out off Keflavik, Iceland in 1981. Our E-3As were like luxury liners in comparison. We were always welcomed with open arms when we flew in to RAF Lossiemouth and we had a great time with the Shack crews when they stayed at Keflavik.

The Airfix Shack is the MR2 version but will be ripe for an AEW conversion. You could use a Skyraider or Gannet AEW scanner housing as they did in the real plane.
If you can get hold of a copy I recommend the Aviation Classics book on the Shackleton. I bought my copy from WH Smith, however, for those who cannot find a copy follow this link http://www.classicmagazines.co.uk/site/searchlist/searchtext/SHACKLETON

Revell have announced a new tool AEW2 for later in the year. Typical, you wait years for a decent Shack and 2 come along!

Thanks Jessie for posting this! I love the parallel stories of the Lanc and Shackleton.

Thanks for posting Jessie that was a great story. I wish American media could do as good a job as the BBC.
