my brother built a Harrier model in the 90's which went in to storage and has since been broken, I want to try and fix it for him as a surprise before he gets deployed overseas but I can't find the bits that are missing or the box it came in, it has XV788 on it and looks very similar to this one except with a pointed needle nose, I have photos of it if that would help http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/Slip21/Harrier/GR3XV804D3SqBinbrook050887b.jpg so if anyone is able to identify the specifics of what kind it is and what scale so I can look for possible replacement parts that would be awesome, thank you!

It would help greatly if we knew how large it is. There are Harrier kits in every major scale, so finding out which one it is will require a few clues. If you have pictures of the model that will help greatly.

Both the 1/24 and 1/48 Airfix kits have XV788 as options. The aircraft being a Harrier GR3.If the model is really big About 500mm ish lomg then it is highly likely to be the 1/24.If it measures out at half that then 1/48 anything snmaller 1/72

Hope this helps

Judging by it's size in comparison to the pen next to it, I'd say it's the Airfix 1/24. Your best bet for parts would be Airfix themselves but you'd have to find an instruction manual and identify the missing parts. Maybe someone can provide a link or PDF document? Then it's a simple case of filling in a spare parts request on the website. That's when you'll need the part numbers. If they have them in the spares dept, they'll get them to you. Airfix have a fantastic spares service.

Awesome find Mike!

Angie, once you know what you need click the 'spare parts' link and let them know what you need. But as Dennis suggested check the dimensions to be sure it is indeed the 1/24 kit.

Hope this helps

All the best

If it becomes unsalvageable, Airfix is re-issuing the GR-3 Harrier which contains all the parts necessary to do that one again.
