I've finished my Wings Over Water campaign entry. It is the Airfix 1/48 Sea Harrier FRS1. What a horrible kit, the parts were ill fitting and the decals were so badly out of register that some of the printed areas missed the decal film. I hate this kit!
And I've just noticed I've not painted the main gear hub! Sod it. I will do it tomorrow!
I hate this kit!

Hi Martin
Well it might be a horrible kit, but you've made a mighty fine job of it! :-)
All the best

Yes but only to my worst enemy [or Merlin as he didn't arrange a Xmas party for us over on A-UK]
I'm thinking of borrowing the airgun from the kid down the street to give this one the send off it deserves.

I think your bluffing, you can't possibly make that good a job of a kit and hate it
HeHeHe, maybe you just weren't invited to the Christmas party

Sorry Martin,
I'm sure I posted the invite... it must have got lost in the post...
What a shame, we all had a blast... we wondered what happened to you...
Seriously, looking at those pics, it's obvious you should feel proud to have built such a fine model out of a bad kit!

Do we really have that bit of extra time? (hint... hint...) I was hoping to finish my Sea Hornet this weekend, but I don't really see it happening It's close to done, but I'll quite understand if it doesn't qualify.
All the best

Well, I also made the same plane, but Tamiya kit. But I didn't find it as much of a nightmarish experience ! Nice build there, Martin!!!
Sadly, couldn't complete it in time for the 10th Jan deadline. Did quite a lot of work ove rthe weekend, esp decaling, since I was out of action over the past week with a slipped disc problem, and then a severly inflamed throat.
For the record, my kit's about 90% complete. Decaling nearly over(only have the missile/drop tank pylons) to be decaled yet. Rest finished. Canopy mounting and frames need to be scratchbuilt, so that will take me the rest of this week most likely, along with the panel line washes. Couldn't take any pics yesterday, since my Handycam had gone out of station.
So I'll understand if I can't make the campaign . . Steve, do let me know...
Cheers,
BP.

Sweet looking plane despite what sounds like ounces upon ounces of heartache.
As a rule I avoid Airfix at all costs, BUT I wonder how those Lightening kits are....
