Dear all,
to try and help anyone, especially new modellers, with RLM designations I cobbled a chart together just posted in the Aircraft Gallery under References.

Paint references are for Humbrol enamels only as it is the only range available in Saudi Arabia.

Please note RLM84 was never officially designated. The term has been attached to this broad colour variation by modellers and researchers as a colour type to make it easier to identify. (I think).

Also a good mix for RLM 76 underside blue is
6 parts Humbrol No. 87 Matt steel grey
1 part Humbrol No. 65 Matt Aircraft Blue
Add Humbrol No. 34 Matt white to get the shade required.

Its good to mix a lot of RLM76 as when doing regular Luftwaffe models you’ll need gallons of it.

Hope it’s of some use.
Chocks away!

Hi Peter

Nice one - a really handy list. :-)

Users should bear in mind - don't go by how the colours in the chart appear on screen - they are only as accurate as your monitor setup - it's the paint mixes that count.

Another great reference for paint mixes is IPMS Stockholm - they cover most airforces.

Thanks and all the best

Hi Peter:

If you´re interested in Luftwaffe colours and camos here you will find an article that I posted in the Features some time ago.

Hi csch,
great chart.
In addition to your reasons for such varied shades of the same RLM colour was the fact that camo schemes were finished in the field. And due to the unreliable supply situation, all kinds of things were used as thinners that could also affect the final shade. Apparantly they used anything from petrol to *schnaps...*what a waste.
Cheers
Peter
