Hello Everyone
I need help to decide wether or not to buy a D.H. Sea Venom plane by matchbox (an old kit from the 80s), I originally wanted to build the D.H. vampire plane in one of the versions (FB5 or FB52 or T55) which I couldnt find any kits for them.
so i was wondering if it would be possible to convert the sea venom to any of these vampire versions? Is the exterior exactly the same or different? There is so little info on the internet about this.
Appreciate your help to know if I could buy this kit or not.
Thanks
Hussein

The Vampire had a straight wing, as compared to the Venom's slightly swept wing. The conversion you speak of can indeed be done, but it's a very major undertaking. Of course at the end of it, you're left with a two seat aircraft.
There's a 1/32 vac kit available which is pretty basic, but the shapes are correct. You can rob the detail parts from the Matchbox kit.

Hi Hussein,
I'd have to check what references I have (which are few on both aircraft I have to admit), but I'm pretty sure both aircraft have different wing shapes. The matchbox Se Venom can only be built as a 2-seater, so it might be possible to use the fuselage for a 2-seater Vampire but new wings would have to be scratchbuilt.
It would certainly be an interesting project to see built!

Some drawings scrounged off the web. First, the Sea Venom
Next, a Vampire T.11
