Has anyone ever built the Revell Germany Hurricane Mk.IIc Fighter. I got it for christmas and was wondering how good it was?

Hi HastyP

Revell's kit is a re-box of the Hasegawa kit. It's very nice, although the "fabric effect" on the rear fuselage is very overdone. I've got a Hasegawa IID part-built, and I masked and gave the "fabric" areas several coats of primer and sanded down to reach an (arguably) more scale appearance.

Hope this helps

I just picked up a Revell Spitfire for $12. Now I know why. Its got like 35 pieces! *lol* Well, if you can make a junky kit look good, I guess you'll be an alright modeller eh?

This one has a lot more parts than 35. It has stickers for the dashboard and some other details. It looks good. What is the number for difficulty on the box? This one is a 3.

Yes excellant kit, the only problem is the underside rear wing to fuselage joint, the fabric affect doesn't match up. You can fill in the fabric on the wing side, then use rolled emery paper to reform the fabric. Here's a picture of mine, more in my gallery.

on the suject of mk II hurricanes i have a question, i,m restoring a dinky hurricane that was a chilhood toy,(it was a birthday present to me in 1974!) i got parts and decals to re build it , however the decals are either totally rubbish, or so faithfully copied from originals they kept the yellowed carrier film that looks 30 years old! also the roundel is badly out of register. while looking for a replacement for the roundel i found a set of mkII hurri decals, the thing is theres no instructions. they are airfix, the code is JV-Z, the number is BP188 from No 6 sqd what i,m wondering is did this aircraft have the fusalage band? btw, there is some stencil as well, if anybody has built this one recently can they tell me where these go?

I'm still waiting for confirmation on the legend under the cockpit.

Hope this helps

i thought BP188 rung a bell! thats great, becuase this is a 70's dinky toy it won't exactly be totally accurate so i'll just use these decals i have, although my hurri has twin cannon in the wings which is the most obvious discrepancy, i just don't care! this is a labour of love
