G'day everyone, i recently won the Revell 1:48 F-84G Thunderjet, and i am just wondering if anyone has built this kit, and what they thought of it, it looks really good, very detailed, really good looking figure, and even some photo etched parts.
Also, i was thinking of putting it in a small diorama, just the plane sitting on the airfield with the pilot there, but did they ever put any type of camo pattern on this aircraft during the Korean war, i have only seen it painted up in silver. also does anyone know what the decals that come with this kit are for? i presume they are for korea? cheers

Back in the Korean War days, the USAF had a thing about shiney metal. Pretty much the only color to break-up the dazzle were the squadron markings, stars and bars, and olive drab anti-glare panels. Aircraft that operated in arctic conditions also had large areas of day-glo red-orange on their wings, nose and tail.
Other countrys that flew F-84's varied things a bit. The old Heller F-84G has markings for a Norwegian Air Force bird and a French Air Force Thunderjet. If I remember correctly, both were a mix of silver and pearl gray. If you have the version that I'm thinking of, the multicolored stripe decals signified a personal jet of a Wing Commander---The same as a GAG on an American Aircraft Carrier. The "Nuts" or 100, 200, 300, etc aircraft from each squadron carries the colors of each squadron in the Wing.
