I have all my models hanging from fishing string from the ceiling in my basement. The other day my Wife was changing the light bulb, sending my black widow and lightning models crashing onto the hard cement floor into a millions of pieces. Now re-construction begins... Thinking back, I bet a few out there have such horror stories about the wives/girlfiends doing similar things????-

Lets hear them.....

I remember years ago my girlfriend at that time once picked up my best ever spitfire kit and launched it into the air thinking it would glide safely to the ground. Needless to say, it didn't. We split up soon after that, thank God. :-)

My daughter's boyfriend claimed that the folded wing of my Fairey Swordfish "just fell off when I picked it up". I noticed it a few days after it happened and asked my wife about it. She told me what happened to it and the guy's explanation. He or my daughter never did tell me the truth of what really did happen or even that it DID happen at all. And yes, he's still alive!!!!

Not actually an AC kit. I remember my cousin grab a hold on my semi-finished T-72. It didn't broke into tiny pieces hopefully. Only the turret extras has been removed. Luckily I found them.

Many of my models have met their end with a size 1 baby shoe, had a cousin put another smaller cousin on my dresser so he could jump off....unfortunately he acted as a baby Godzilla and smashed tanks, planes, and even the batmobile! But they were not very good so no worries i guess, just made room for better ones

A couple months ago I was removing a model from it's base to take a few pictures for a school project. As I walked to my bench, I held the tank at an angle, just the right angle for the turret to move into the unlocked position and fall out on my cellar floor. The turret itself wasn't damaged, but a good deal of the stowage broke off. I set the hull on the edge of my table and collected my parts. As I went to stand up, I smashed my head into the table and sent the hull to the floor as well, where a couple small pieces broke off.

Never had that happen to an A/C I was building. But, thinking back over many years, I recall a time when I was building an approx 1/72 scale of the USS Constitution. I had gotten to th point where I was running the rigging. One night instead of stopping when I got frostrate and threw the ship across the room and smashed against the far wall.

yup! Wife, kids, grandkids, sisters and cats are all hazzardous to a model collection.

All the above have destroyed or damaged models in the last 34 years. some I've been able to fix, others were a total loss.

All of my 1/48th scale aircraft were destroyed in a move, fourteen models were placed in a box and 60poundsof china stacked on top of them. That was in 1979 and I have not built one since.

The #&@&$#^ cat decided to use a couple of armor models for batting toys., he ain't here no more.

Granddaughter played with a few, grandson stepped on one (my fault)

The longer you model, the moe tales of woe you will have.

My step dad, loves to help clean out my room. Or should I say throw everything he thiks is out of place. Well the other day, he was throwing stuff around , and knocked my prized F-15 to the floor, and it broke into a million pieces. That sucked cause it was probably my best model. The thing that really pises me off is that he won't go out and buy me another one

When I was a kid (a lot longer ago than I care to think about) I had a sizable collection of aircraft and armor that either my dad and I had built together or I had built on my own.

One day I came home from summer camp to discover every single model I had in my room was smashed. There were bits and pieces all over the room. In particular there was a very beautiful A-4 that I regret losing to this day. My sister claimed that the kid she was babysitting for had gotten in there and done the damage. She'd promised to replace them all, but really got out of it because I was about 15 at the time and was rapidly losing interest in modeling and gaining interest in, er, other things.

A couple years ago I finally found out the truth - she'd had a huge house party while my parents were away getting me. They'd frantically cleaned the house the next day, but didn't realize that some drunk fratboys had gotten into my room and smashed my models.

But this thread reminds me: My sister owes me a whole bunch of models.

Hi guys,
I used to have a girlfriend that kept complaining that I loved my hobby more than about here and wanted me to stop.
Needless to say that I got a new girlfriend.
And she’s the only woman I know how real likes my hobby.
Lucky me
:-)

Makes you wonder if there's any Tombstone's out there that might tell the story........but then, that would be evidence, right?
