Little steps as the project continues. The basic colors and the eyes were masked and painted. Then the line work and "feathers" were done by hand...and they look it. But no decals here! It has been interesting. Next we shall see if I can get the nose to mate to the fuselage without too much grief!

A terrific effort! Of course, the original was hand-painted too!

Thank you Brian, they did a better job than I did, but overall I think the results are acceptable. From normal viewing distance, it looks okay.

I'll echo what Brian said. The original was hand painted, and most likely your replica is closer to the original that what we've come to expect from decals that are drawn by professional level artists. Very nicely done.

You're a much braver man then I, as I wouldn't have even attempted it, as I can't even draw a straight line.

Over a year since I last posted here. Bummer. Well, I did attach the nose and put on the name. That didn't turn out so well. I will see if I can touch it up a bit.

It is all masked/airbrushed/ hand painted with the exception of the "mouth". The name was painted on decal paper (because there were a few screw-ups!) and then the decal was applied as normal.
