I am trying to track down information about a Lancaster flown by a local pilot.

What I know so far is that he flew a Avro Lancaster BI with serial NG183 and code AS-D and the plane was shot down 21 Feb 1945 during a mission. Pilot was Davit Walter Hill (RCAF).

I am mainly looking for marking information and color pallet if possible. Pictures would be great too. Google hasn't been my friend so far.

Thanks in advance for any help.

AS-D is about 1/2 way down under 166 Sqdn

Thanks Dave not sure how I missed that page. I also came across it here:

http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww2/b/555/9/1

but the serial numbers do not match. I assume that the code number could have been reused on a new aircraft when the other was shot down? I'm not an expert.

OK. The page I found doesn't show the serial number, but yes- the code AS-D would be reused on another aircraft. It gives you the basic colour scheme, which would be standard for all Lancs
