Hello Everyone. I am building the Bristol Beaufighter and I want to paint it in the two-tone desert cam pattern. Anyone know what the colors are? Any ideas about the color numbers for Tamiya acrilics and/or Mr. Hobby? I guess I need three colors. The two on the top of the aircraft and the color underneath. Cheers.

Hello Alex,
Found these examples: Notice the different patterns based on the area of operation. The first one is Malta, second is somewhere in North Africa, the third is from Malta also and the fourth is from Egypt.

The (very good) 48th scale Tamiya kit calls for
1) XF-52 and XF-64 mixed in equal parts
2) XF-59 and XF-60 mixed in equal parts
over the following
X-16:3
Xf-2:10
XF-18:5

Hey. Thanks for the great reply. 1) & 2) I understand, but:
X-16:3
Xf-2:10
XF-18:5
The above three things I am not too sure about.

That's instructions to mix the colours from available Tamiya paints. Tamiya gives mixes in proportions:
X-16:3
XF-2:10
XF-18:5
As seen here, X-16 is Purple, XF-2 is Flat White and XF-18 is Flat Medium Blue.
So mix 3 drops of purple, 10 drops of flat white and 5 drops of medium blue to make 18 drops of RAF Azure blue. Some people complain that this mix comes out too purple, so you could leave out a drop or 2 of the purple and see how it turns out.
Or just find a few bottles of Model Master already mixed for you:
Dark Earth: 2054
Middle Stone: 2052
Azure: 2048
X-16:3
XF-2:10
XF-18:5
