I saw a post on Finescale Modeler's Facebook page that Shep Paine has passed away. I was amazed at his dioramas that he created and made their way into the pages of FSM. RIP Shep

Indeed it is sad news, Shep was a giant in the hobby and a great teacher to a lot of us. I am inspired by his work and his books every time i open a new kit or start a figure project, he was my friend, he will be missed.

With the passing of Shep Paine we've lost another Icon in our hobby. I was fortunate to meet him just once at a IPMS national convention back in the 1970s.
May he rest in peace.

I also feel his influence was huge for a whole generation of us in the 70s. The Monogram B-24 and B-17 dioramas were stunning in showing what was possible. In some ways I'm still trying to match his example decades later!
I am sorry that he is gone.
