Hi Friends,
I stumbled upon this photo a few weeks ago, but haven't found any other info on it.
To my eyes, it definitely appears to be an unpainted, or stripped 109G5 or 6. I know there is an oft-rendered model of a Mosquito hunting G6 out there, but this isn't it.
Anybody know anything that might prove useful with this photo?
Thanks!
Gary

Hi Gary
According to the book "War Prizes", it's Bf 109G-6 W.Nr 160163 at Freeman Field in 1946. It's US identity was FE-496/T2-496. It was restored in the '70s for display at the NASM.
All the best

After further digging I have learned that after capture and transport to the U.S. It was stripped of paint and markings, given spurious markings and shown around to inspire people to buy war bonds.
I guess if you were keen to build a certified NMF 109, you could copy their effects.
Thanks for looking!
