I'm looking for a 1/48 F-86E that I can convert into a FJ-2 Fury.

The only one that comes up is the Esci / Italeri option but this has some major intake, canopy and jet pipe issues. I know I have some scratch building to do for the conversion but I'd rather not have to correct the issues as well.

Most 1/48 Sabres are -F models. I don't know of a real -E model Sabre, which is a severe lack. You'd likely have to convert an -F for your project

One source mentions a Monogram E that although dated, shape wise is accurate however the boxing's I've seen online just state F-86 with no variant letter.

The old Monogram beast is an F-35 with the "6-3" hard wing. You'd need to cross-kit it with the wings from the Revell -D to make an -E

Thanks Jessica, I may just go for a FJ-3 which is basically an F although still needs some changes (guns, intake, wing, nose gear, hook etc)

Steffen, thank you. I had not heard of Kiwi resin before, now looking at their site I'll give the conversion a try and the A-12 Oxcart conversion as well.
