Looking to see if there are any subject matter experts here; I am in the process of building the Tamiya Swordfish and was wanting to do an aircraft that took part in the Taranto Raid.
I wanted to do an aircraft armed with bombs as opposed to torpedo. I know the torpedo armed AC mounted a 60gal fuel tank in place of the observer but not sure of the bomb armed AC. I read somewhere on another modelling site that they carried a 60gal tank underneath but I can't find any photo evidence of this. If anyone has any insights into this and can share them it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply! I'd seen the Modelling Madness feature before. The article from worldnavalships is exactly what I was looking for. Great info and confirms the use of the external fuel tank. Simplifies my build too. Thanks again.

Diving right in. I'd forgotten how good the Tamiya 1/48 planes were - took a 14 year hiatus of building armor

Not sure yet of which specific AC to do and researching if any went into the attack with Sky Grey undersides or if all carried the black distemper lowers. Fun build so far.

Chris,awesome name by the way.
I'm following, kinda like the swordfish, not sure why.
May inspire me to buy the airfix 1/72 scale kit.

Cheers

Chris 😊

Just a bit of painting. Sky Grey lowers and playing on the upper pattern with a home brew Dark Slate Grey. Will need lots of adjustments. The upper lower wing will be counter shaded. Headed to the beach for a couple of weeks so this will have plenty of time to dry.
