Hi all.
Just received a package of kits from Hannants including Special Hobby’s new 1/72nd releases Bv155 V1, Fw 187A-O and Planet 1/72nd Sauders Roe SRA/1 jet-powered flying boat fighter.
So you see its not ALL German Luft 46 stuff with me.
Will report on the Special Hobbies’ as I do them, but first looks in bag:

Special Hobby Bv155 V1.
Includes some resin parts. Clean mould -no serious flash. Decals for 1 example.

Special Fw 187A-O.
Includes some resin and etched parts.
And a first I think for SH, an injection canopy. Also clean mould -no serious flash. Decals for 3 examples.

Planet Sauders Roe SRA/1.
On first inspection, it looks pretty straight forward; typical resin kit from Planet.
Anyone built this before? Any unseen problems I should anticipate?

Note: all 3 types actually flew. Is this a first for me?

Many thanks
Cheers
Peter

Nice one Peter

Do you fancy taking some pics and doing in-box reviews of them before you get stuck in?

I wish someone would do a 1/48 scale version of the Saunders Roe - it's always been a favourite of mine. I used to work in the factory on the Isle of Wight where it was built (it was British Hovercraft by then...).

All the best

Hi again Rowan,
no I don't mind at all. I'm off work next week...national holidays...so I'll get the 'ole digicam out of its box...something to do...other than refurbishing the barbie.
Must have been interesting working at SR.
The nearest I ever got to the aircraft industry was doing some graphics work for Royal Ordnance...wish we had spell-check on site....and currently BAE in Saudi.
My only other claim to fame, if off-topic was doing PR work for Williams F1 team through their then sponsor Rothmans. Not like work at all.
Cheers again.

Hi again Peter

Well, working at the former Saunders Roe wasn't that exciting... I was getting some money together to pay to go to college, so I ended up in the paint shop - I spent all day, every day stripping components, removing old sealant and burnishing parts with a "windy". Not exactly glamorous!

Still, there were the old timers ready to talk about building Walruses during the war, the short-lived SR.A/1 (I think one of them is still at the bottom of the Solent, outside Cowes) and, of course, the Princess... I think scrapping that broke their hearts.

Actually, thinking about those Special Hobby releases - they could well have 1/48 scale versions planned... :-)

Looking forward to your reviews. Remember, you can always post extra text and pics over on Armorama-UK linked to the Main Site review.

All the best
