What color are the insides to a F14 Tomcat air intakes? I am building a "subdued" version. Are they white or a grayish color?
Thanks

They are white!!!!!!!! BTW what kit are you building??? I'm doing a backdate of Tamiya's big F14A. In all the years of service the Intakes have never changed colour. STUG

Sorry to hi-jack this Thread but yes I'm using the Cutting Edge Modleworks backdate set. I'm also ordering an early cockpit from Technics. The planned livery?????? VF-84 as they appeared from 1979-1981. Most would know this where the Squadron rised to fame as the stars of a dogfight with 2 Japanese type 21 Zero fighters in The Final Countdown. Let the cliche live on!!!!! STUG

This is the Tamiya 1/32 bird (I believe 1994 version) I am not adding any detailing parts except the blackbox cockpit and some subdued markings from VF-143 Puking Dogs.

Hey were building the same kit!!! Funny thing is with this back date there is blister that i can find its location in the photos. Funny thing is in all Tamiya's version of the kit the only thig changing is the Forward fuslage. I asked last time I was in Shizuoka if they were going to retool the whole they said no plans were being made to do so. I guess were stuck with only half a F14 in recessed panles! STUG

I bought a set of subdued decals for that kit early last year with plans on starting the kit, but with 5 or 6 that I have to finish as it is now, it'll be a while before I get the chance to work on my bird.
