Roden are set to release a pair of 1:144 kits of classic airliners that span the decades from the '50s through to the '80s. Bristol's "Whispering Giant", the Britannia, was among the ultimate prop-driven types at the dawn of the jet age, while ‘Caesar’s Chariot’ represented the ultimate in touring luxury for Led Zeppilin and others.

Good news Rowan, I'll have to pick up a Monarch Britannia I remember flying on one many years ago as a kid going on my holidays.

Hi Luciano

It brings back happy memories of childhood holidays in the early/mid '60s for me too. We also flew out to the Med on DH Comets, a Caravelle and the ubiquitous BAC-111s - and even a Lockheed Constellation.

I remember crossing the Pyrenees in the Connie and watching goats running to get out of the way - we were so low over the peaks! I thought it was great and couldn't understand why my parents were petrified!

Those were the days.

All the best

Rowan

I intend to do this but I have a few pieces of the airplane because my father saw tragedy and as a fan of airplanes in a few months became one thing remains constant for the memory.

I'd like to see Roden start doing some 1/72nd airliners! A Britannia would be great to see in 1/72nd!
