How are the Academy 1/48 AH-64D and 1/35 Cobra kits from an ease-of-assembly perspective? I build mostly armor, but want to try something different on my next build...

Well that's good! Welcome to the dark side! I haven't build my Apache yet but It has good rubber tires and quite detailed recessed panel lines. Rivets and bolts are molded good enough. The ammunition mold is pretty fine. The glass part goes hand to hand with the frame so you need some masking to paint 'em.

Academy's 1/35 Cobra is a very good build. Lots of options and details. One word of caution though the decals are not the best and the canopy fit in the front is very tricky. Othe rthan that it is a great Cobra kit.
There are pics of it in my gallery if interested. Just ingore the silvered decals if you can.

Only thing about the Cobra kits is that you can only build one up to around 1994, anything after that is outfitted with NTS(Night-Targeting System). The cool thing though is that you can use the kit decals for a NTS bird since they still have the land camo and did when NTS was introduced.

Two Bobs also makes some nice decals for the Cobra in Afghanistan. Don't know if they have done OIF yet....

Cobra company has the NTS upgrade kits for the kit. If you are inclined to to do so. The link below should bring you to it if interested.

Whiskey give a little help one this one if you can. Have you seen or used it yet. I am thinking of doing another.
Hopefully getting it right this time.
Thanks for the kind words Shonen.

Building a NTS bird as we speak. This is my first time using resin and its not easy getting the parts free from the casting. But yeah, any questions you have just gimme a holler.
