I can't seem to find any clear photos of the early type of gunsight mount used on the P-47C and early D model.
Walker "Bud" Mahurin's P-47D "Spirit of Atlantic City, N.J." s/n 42-8487 had this type of mount, with two tubular bars extending from the gunsight itself, down to the edges of the instrument panel at the sides of the cockpit. Is this the only way the gunsight was attached to the cockpit?
Photos of the later type, which protrudes on a mounting stalk from behind the instrument panel only, are plentiful for some reason, however.

Is this potentially the image you were referring to? (Found after a google search for "P-47 instrument panel" of all things) Now it's just a matter of clipping the kit's (Tamiya P-47 Razorback) gunsight off its mounting stalk and attaching it with two styrene rods, way simpler than I first thought.
I was contemplating getting Zemke's Wolfpack, but now it looks like a definite buy.

Yes, that's just one of approximately 400 photos in the book.
Over 300 are previously unpublished.
The books getting excellent reviews and selling very well!
Especially in America where it's selling extremely well!
Treat yourself, you won't regret it!
