Many thanks, Mike.
I'll start tooling a badge but I'm open to anyone else who'd like to make one.
I was going to start with an image of this:

I'm in! Maybe I'll try that A-36. Plenty of SDBs if that doesn't pan out.

A quick take on a ribbon from me:
Only as a space holder (I hate seeing the empty gray for 'Award Pending' badges).
I'm more than open to any other ideas would like offer. In fact I'd really appreciate other suggestions instead of the one I rushed to make above.

Hi All,
I am wondering if since I see the Me110 and Me210 on there if the Italian AC Breda BA-64/65 and the IMAM Ro.58 would be acceptable for this build?
Thanks
Jeff D

Sorry, Meant the Breda 88 Lice not sure why I had the internal bomb storage 65 on my mind.......

In regards to the Me-110 and 210 aircraft, no 110 variant, as far as I could find, was ever given a dive bomber designation. The Me 210 A-2 seemed to be a dive bomber specific variant of the 210 air frame.
The Breda and IMAM aircraft seems to require more investigation to see if there were any variants of them deemed as dive bombers.

To me, in regards to the Breda Ba.88, there Ba.88M variant (of which apparently three were built) may have been intended as a dive bomber version of this attack aircraft.
The Ba.88M had a 2 meter longer wingspan than previous versions and also had dive brakes. Over all, the Ba.88 seems to have been an aircraft that showed great promise in prototype form but once fitted with armament, its performance was very degraded. WWII aircraft forums I've visited mentioned a design that was to withstand a g-force load associated with dive bombers so it could have been that the 88M, had it been a better overall performing warbird, was meant to be a dive bombing version.

I like the ribbon idea, but the aircraft loses a great deal at the small size. What about focusing on the bomb instead? It's a simpler shape and would likely survive being shrunk to 50 pixels high.

I was thinking the same thing. I had started with that premise but wanted to see if I could get the Stuka to work.
A single bomb would be more recognizable. I'll cobble one up.
How's this:
Anyone, please feel free to offer something else.

Good Mike! Any way you can angle it down?
I'm a big SBD fan and have several in 1/48 and 1/32, but I might just have to do an Wind Indicator (SB2U) for this one. Now, which one...?

I'll need to down load a image editor that'll let me rotate images besides just by 90, 180 and 270 degrees.
I've downloaded GIMP that had that feature but still trying to figure it out.
Anyone else out there more literate with image editing, please feel free to grab it or even make one of your own.
Gotta couple of SBD's myself but for some reason I have a thing for the SB2C Helldiver, warts in it development history and all.
The Aichi 'Val', however, must be the most attractive looking dive bomber ever made.

Well since no real consciences on the Italian AC.
I think I will go with the Aichi "Grace".

I am in.
However, would post WWII aircraft not qualify as dive bombers or should it be dedicated dive bombers?

i was wondering if the f4u corsair would be included since it was used as a dive bomber at the end of WWII and korea and we are including the a-36 apache and the aichi grace which was more of a torpedo plane.

We're trying to keep it to aircraft that least had the 'dive bomber' role included into their over all design.
For example, Grumman F6F Hellcats did dive bomb attacks with 500lb bombs but was not designed for that role. The Imperial Japanese Navy's Aichi 'Grace' was a torpedo bomber but also was intended to perform in dive bombing so it had dive brakes for that role installed on it.
Over all WWII saw the end of the dedicated dive bomber but I think the Douglas Skyraider could be considered eligible because it was designed (certain models) with dive brakes to perform those attacks.

Michael, it was exactly the skyraider I was thinking about. Great minds think alike
I will probably do a sky raider for this campaign or a more traditional Stuka.
Looking forward to get started.

Michael,
I tried to rotate your bomb but it was kind of long.
So Here is my rendition.

Okay I'm in I have a number of possibilities in 1/48 and 1/72 I just have to decide which of them I want to do!

Michael,
I've got off of ebay the Accurate Minatures SB2U-3 Vindicator, and would be very interested in signing up for this campaign.
I would venture to guess at this point that the start date would be towards the tail end of the year, which is fine for me.

Michael,
going to sign up, even though I build at a snail's pace. I'm still more then a good 6 wks away at best from finishing the B-25B. Then I have the Ebbro 1/20 scale Lotus 49 started which is a personal favorite. I actually saw the car race at the 1967 F1GP at the Watkins Glen. So August will be cutting it tight at the Accurate Miniature's SB2U-3 isn't a easy kit to build.

I have this skyraider in the stash. I believe it is big dive brakes it has on the side of the fuselage(?) Not 100% sure.
Wikipedia writes:
"AD-6 (A-1H)
Single-seat attack aircraft with three dive brakes, centerline station stressed for 3,500 lb (1,600 kg) of ordnance, 30 in (760 mm) in diameter, combination 14/30 in (360/760 mm) bomb ejector and low/high altitude bomb director; 713 built."
Will it qualify for this campaign? If not, no problem, there are other kits in my stash

Yep, the Spad had 3 massive dive brakes. Take a look at the photo on the bottom of this page.
