This is probably old news, but has anyone here used Press'nSeal, an intriguing plastic food wrap and alternative to cling film.
This stuff maintains it's shape when cut. I have tried masking panels, camouflage patterns and even letters. Press it down and when done with , pull it back on itself and it comes away easily. It is "low-tack."
I've applied it over decals without destroying them when removing the mask.
There must be a catch...
Cheers
Karl.

Hi Karl
That sounds really interesting! I've never seen the stuff in the UK, and have just done a web-search - Amazon sell it imported, but charge a relative fortune compared with the US price. It still might be worth it, though - as masking material, rather than food-wrap.
All the best

Sounds interesting, I might have to check this one out.
Is it something like "Parafilm" that a few folks here have been using perhaps?
Cheers, D

Gidday Damian. Parafilm is a medical product and has adhesive on one face. Very useful, but expensive and I avoid masking over decals and acrylic paint. This "Press'nSeal has no virtually no tack yet remains, like cling-film, reusable.
Why it is not available in Aussie I may be able to explain later in this post.
And I do hope you are clear of the Fires.
Gidday Gazza. Read on (while looking out for Crocs on their way home. 300 km that big one traveled?)
Hello Rowan. Price-wise... I bought a 30cm x 21.6m roll for NZ$4.89.
You may be aware that New Zealand is used as a testing ground for new products. You might be familiar with an albumn released by Paul McArtney's "Wings." Unsure of a World-wide release, it's debut was in NZ. It did well and was released in Australia. And so on.
Perhaps that is why it has not reached you yet.
This may be a good idea: PM me with your Postal details and I will send you all some. Half a metre sound alright?
Cheers

I find it very useful stuff. The adhesive is a pattern of small dotty bits of wax. You can burnish down and it sticks quite well- great for canopies and glossy surfaces. Press lightly for covering lager areas- such as filling in ares defined by masking taped edges. Any wax residue can be polished off with a soft cloth. I'll see if I can dig up any process pics in a bit!

Hi Chuck. That would be great! Your experiences with this product would be good to hear.
Any downsides?

That's the way to do it. And it's reusable.

Well I just bought some and seeing chuck uses it confirms it's a good idea. I will post when I get to use it. If there is indeed a downside I'm sure it will strike me.

Great. Let's put this stuff through the wringer and see what occurs.

I haven't had any real issues, but just be aware that this is not meant to be anything more than a filler for masking. The little dots of wax don't seal the edges like masking tape does- paint can blow under the Press N Seal. Always use tape for the edges of your mask!

Hi Chuck
That actually makes it sound like it could be ideal for creating semi-soft camouflage edges. Karl has very generously popped some in the post for me to try, so I'm really keen to see how it works out.
All the best

Hi again Karl
I've just had my first opportunity to try Press'n Seal (you can tell how often I get to the workbench... ) - it's worked a treat!

Hi Rowan.
Good to see you have tried Press'nSeal and like it. Like you I have only a little time at the workbench, but this stuff saves time.
I've used it for masking camouflage and markings by pressing it over letters and numbers printed on paper, cutting them out and transferring the mask to a model.
And it has completely eliminated "cling-film" from my kitchen!

Hi Lou.This stuff does not require anything but a sharp knife or scissors. Make sure to keep a stash in case Mrs Lou takes full advantage of its' intended uses.
Cheers
Karl.
