Hi,

While building the Revell Gripen, I face a problem with a small gap running between the front and back clear parts of the cockpit. It's going to be covered by paint but I'm still hesitant of using my go-to filler (Mr. Surfacer 500) sine this will probably remain visible from the side.

How are you guys dealing with this kind of problems?

Testors makes a Clear part cement and window maker that might work for you, but from what you describe my suggestion would be to tack the canopy pieces in place on the model, glue them together, and fill with Mr Surfacer like you suggested. When that is completely cured remove the whole thing from the model and paint the interior framing of the canopy to cover up the seam.

Others may have better suggestions, but I think that is how I would do it.

Thanks, Mark! That might work... I was also thinking of painting the joints black before gluing and filling to hide the gray of the filler from the side view.

I ended up painting the glued edges black using a sharpie and filling the gap with some hobby glue I know dries transparent.

We'll see how this turns out once the masking is removed

PS: Did anybody try transparent nail polish and glue/filler for clear parts?

Cristian, Microscale Micro Kristal Klear or wood glue works well.
