If I understand right the P47M was the last varient.. My model calls for a blue/light blue camo scheme, Natural finish bottom...Ever see this?

They call out for FS35052 (called matt blue 56)
and
FS35231 (matt blue 56 +white mix).

If anybody could help with FS colors equivalant or matt blue 56 for MM paints or lead me to some pictures, that would be great...

Specifically: I am doing the Revell of Germany 1/72 scale P47M thunderbolt

i have a poster showing the 'little friends' of the 8th air force from flypast mag and it has a side view of a 56th FG thunderbolt in the colour scheme you describe, it has the code UN-A and the serial no.421135, all the other aircraft are in standard green/nmf schemes making this one really stand out

It wasnt the last variant though. The deployment of the P-47M in the 56th FG(which was the only unit to recieve them) led to the development of the P-47N, widely used in the Pacific Theater.

Hi there

Animal's pic looks like Dark Grey / Dark Green uppersurfaces... I've read about the use of RAF paints for this scheme... can anyone confirm?

All the best

Yes the RAF used those colors...but not on P-47s, or at least P-47s I have seen they werent like that.

The pic animal posted is actually just P-47D of the 56th FG, and I believe that is Schilling's(I thinks thats his name) plane.

"whats that yellow flap on the wing?"

Hi Almonkey

That the yellow zinc-chromate interior of the ammunition / guns access panel.

All the best
