Puts this in the right spot!
Reading through 1966 in aviation I surprisingly noticed that the Hawker Siddeley Harrier made its maiden flight on 31 August 1966.
Any support for a Campaign toward the end of the year to recoginise this?

I have a horrendous track record when it comes to campaigns, on the other hand I am a great fan of those more specific campaigns that concentrates on just one type of aircraft. And I do have a few in the stash so: I'm in!

Just FYI, as it stands the schedule would probably be for this one to start in March. I can see my way clear to pushing it back a bit, but not all the way to August. What do you all think?

Since the Harrier and I share our 50th anniversary, it would be just plain rude if I didn't enter this campaign.

Y'know what PH, I could give this one a go. I've always liked the Harrier and have the new Kinetic SHARs on the way. Sign me up!
So now we need what, one more? Anyone?

Not being a versed wing-thing builder, I'll have to ask... Which Harriers better? Kinetic, Airfix, Hasegawa, Revell?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Cristian,
A lot depends on the scale you're looking at. In 1/72 the new-tool (since 2010) Airfix Harriers are really pretty nice and probably the best of the bunch that's easily available (though the Hasegawa kits aren't bad.)
In 1/48 be aware that the Airfix and Tamiya kits are quite old and not up to today's standard for either of those companies. The Hasegawa and Kinetic 1/48 kits are newer and all quite nice, IMHO.
Keep in mind that the Harrier is a complicated shape and thus any Harrier kit is a little tricky to engineer and build. But take your time, have a look at online reviews, and you'll be fine.

Thank you, Michael! I actually feel ready for my first modern kit in 1/48 so it might be this one. But it all depends on what I can lay my hands on at a reasonable price

I am in. The Harrier is one of my favorite aircraft and I have an unopened Hasegawa 1/48 Harrier Plus that I will build for this. Still need to decide on markings. The kit includes Italian Navy decals but I will likely go with a USMC bird. I also need to decide if this will be OOB or if I will add some after market, particularly the cockpits....decisions, decisions.

I'll have to ask... Are we allowed to start building before the official start date? We did so in another campaign (The 500+ Campaign over at Armorama) and it was a popular decision.

Cristian,
The rules say no more than 30% started when the campaign begins, so technically I'd say you could choose a kit you've already begun. But I kind of like to wait, builds up the anticipation.
Now, which one should I go with?

Thanks, Michael! I guess I'll wait then.
I've been eyeing that FA2 myself. That red back is very attractive. So, that would be MY choice of the two.

Hi all,
I'm new to model building and this forum. What's a campaign? I'm assuming some sort of group build but could someone confirm?
I'm attracted to this as I love the Harrier, especially the mk 1 Sea Harrier of Falklands vintage.
