I’d like to propose the Egg II (Caricature) Campaign.

With last year’s releases by Fuji, Hasegawa, Meng, Tiger, and others, there is a large variety of caricature kits available. Ships, planes, tanks, a truck are now available. WWII to modern.

There’d certainly be something for those that frequent Aeroscale, Armorama, and Model Shipwrights.

Start date would be left up to the Campaign Manager and I would assume no more than six (6) months long.

This would be my proposed submission (as a Kit Maker Network campaign):

Operational Overview

This campaign is about building a caricature kit; a kit of a vehicle that has been deformed – squished, scrunched, or mushed – by the manufacturer.

You will find the forum thread to this campaign here: (TBD)

The Rules and Regs

1. Must be a caricature kit.
2. Can be land, air, or sea.
3. Any nationality.
4. Any aftermarket items are allowed and encouraged (YES, there is PE, resin, and wood decks out there for some of these!!). These kits are “unscaled” but 1/72 decals work well for the Egg Planes.
5. Cannot be started before campaign start date.
6. Pictures of the unstarted kit’s box top and sprues should be posted as a first campaign posting.
a. This shows us the box art,
b. Shows us the sprues,
c. Shows that it has not been started.
7. At least two (preferably more) in-progress pictures need to be posted during the build.
8. An excellent opportunity to involve a youngster in the hobby!
9. Have FUN! See what’s out there! Serious and not-so-serious modelers need to have a break from rivet-counting every once in a while.

You will find the gallery of finished models here: (TBD)

Contest Element

A special ribbon will be awarded to those that complete the campaign.

Thoughts?

I've got an F-16 Thunderbird and F/A-18 Blue Angel, so might very well be up for this! Would probably start in the March-April time frame and last 6 months.

Sounds fine by me Michael. I've posted this on Armorama and Model Shipwrights. Hope to get cross-site participation.

I'm probably going to do the Meng German bomber tho I have all the Meng Kids planes, 90% of the Egg Planes, and a couple of the Fuji ships, and a couple odds and ends kits.

Here are some links to the various caricature kits (These links are strictly to show you what's out there; not to suggest where to get them):

Fujimi ships & vehicles

Meng Kids Planes & a tank

Hasegawa Egg Planes

Eggocentrics

Tiger Model has three aircraft that come/came as gifts in a model purchase. The only place I found any of them is on eBay.
Tiger Model Corsair
Tiger Model Hayate
Tiger Model Bf-109

And AFV Club is now issuing a KV-2 and Pz. IV.

Food for thought.

Uh oh. Just had a look at mine and I appear to have painted the cockpit areas gray at some point. Any chance you could allow slightly started builds?

Paint only? I really don't see a problem with that. There are so few parts to these that a partially built kit is, well...mostly built. LOL!

My proposal was just that; a proposal. Amendments can be made. Paint on a piece like that? No sweat, you are good to go should this be approved (hopefully as a network campaign).

OK, how can I resist? I have a few of these kits in my stash, but never seem to get around to starting one. This campaign could be eggs-actley the ticket to fix that! I am in, though I will now need to decide which kit.....

Have fun modeling

I'm in, and my local hobby store has a decent amount of these bad boys in stock, so to be honest I'm pretty excited about this build. Should be fun!

Cheers mate!

John,

I believe that an "original sculpture" would be perfectly fine and a great addition to the Campaign. It would need to be military themed though.

Well, it's May 1 somewhere so this campaign has begun! You can find the official thread here. Post all campaign related stuff in that thread from now on. This current thread will now be locked.

Egg on all!
