They say that good things come in small packages, right? The thing is, that doesn’t seem to always be the case! I was in a local store a few years ago and I of course gravitated to the Heller section. I saw they had a big Noratlas in stock, but I didn’t want to use up that much shelf space. So, when I saw a little one at 1/170, I thought it was a perfect answer! It was also in scale to some old Macross kits I had.

However, as you likely can guess, the small Noratlas isn’t that great a kit. In fact, it’s well on the road to running ancient Airfix a competition for bad ideas given plastic form! Of course, that kind of makes me love it all the more!

I doubt this is a kit too many have, or at least are thinking of building, but despite it all, it does look like it could have potential! (Hmm… what if gunship comes to mind…)

Oh wow have to love the silver colour of the kit and when you scale it up that riveting must stand about two feet tall!

Can you imagine the drag on those things, nevermind the size of the four-man rivet gun needed to pop them in there! I guess it's all about what you expect to see, eh?

Now boys, don't you go criticizing the size of those rivets without counting them first!

Yeah, I guess I do have a bit of a masochistic streak in me, eh? Stil, this is a fun, bite-sized kit of an otherwise huge subject. And it is in scale to my old Valkyries, so that's something.

I don't know about foil; seems like a waste of good foil to me.

Did they ever use these in South America for hauling meat and stuff, like the old propliners? That would be fun too!

Was thinking about the old riveters, heat the rivet, fling it to a guy who catches it in a bucket then one guy holds it with pliers as the last guy hammers her in.

It doesn't seem that many got into civvy service. This one got close, though.

I just saw a doco with these birds resupplying Dien Bien Phu.

That's interesting about the fleet for use in civilian colours. It's too bad about the corruption, because it would have been a blast to see these guys get all "La Paz meat-truck"ed up.
