Steve, this is serious scratchbuilding alright... Outstanding!
Care to say what materials you use and tools to shape them?
Cheers

Thanks Pedro!
The weapon began as a pic from Gotha!
Which by coincidence is almost perfect 1/32 scale:
A dimension was found , the only one I could find , for a 20 mm shell for this prototypical 20mm cannon. The magazine was built off that shell dimension, then the rest to as close as possible to the pic. When I finished the mag I was suspect due to its size , but after numerous checks and comparisons with pic from the net I went ahead.
There are stainless and brass tubes. And a piece of 1/4" x 1/4" Evergreen was milled into the main body shape. after that brass strip was hand shaped into the added parts. AM parts from Detail Master , RB Motion , The Model Car Garage , Top Studio , Scale Motorsport rounded out the tiny details.Model Technologies supplied the gunsight
Tools used are the regular model tools , files , different profile piers , soldering gun , wire cutters etc , and my little Sherline mill did the main body work. Digital verniers help with measuring , and a calculator for scaling.
I'm gonna attempt final assy here in a few minutes.

Thank you Frederick.
She (the cannon) just went together nice and straight. I'll touch up the paint and get some finished pics up.

Hi Steve
Superb! You've got to get the Gotha on the front page when it's completed.
All the best

Pedro and Rowan. Thank you.
The Gotha will be next year , the cannon has been on my mind for a few years and I wanted to get it done. There will be some more 'embellishments' for the model in the coming months. I wanna get the components , ie: armament , figs , base , bombs , airfield accy's etc , done before tackling the kit.
Can any mods correct the spelling of 'cannon' in the title , please?

A little info that I learned a few years ago.
The Becker Cannon design was acquired by a certain Swiss firm named Oerlikon, Perhaps it would be effective to modify a 1/32-35 example as a starting point?
Your model is great. And I do not know if there were any design changes between the two. It was just some info I found, looking for source data.
Again nice build.

Yes that info is to the best of my knowledge , true. The Becker was the prototype from which the 20 mm airborne cannon evolved. I have numerous pix of the BC all of them show design changes , mine was done from the pic shown earlier with parallel horizontal side plates , as opposed to the later contoured side plates. Different magazines and mag release handles are evident, as well as the wire handles that fire the weapon. I think, as I have no real idea how the cannon works. We can also see numerous pix of the cannon in what appears to be an un-cocked state , mine is modelled in the firing position. Lots of images available on the web , and I enjoyed creating my little cannon. Thanks for your interest and comments.
