Remember the vac-u-form of glorious legend? Perhaps Mattel will repeat that achievement?

Good post. The Vac-U -Form is a toy , until a guagepod kit is installed , makes it a way more usefull tool.

Hi Jessie
If Mattel can combine good enough resolution with a "toy" price bracket, they could corner the market. With Humbrol also making a move to 3D printing after rumours for some time, 2016 might turn out to be a landmark year in how our hobby develops. It's an exciting time, but I hope these pioneers don't get their fingers burned...
All the best

I don't expect that the Mattel 3D printer will make any impact in our hobby. As this appears to be a FDM type 3D printer (think extruded plastic like a computer controlled hot melt glue gun), the resolution will be quite low for most of our applications. It will be fun to play with, but not likely very useful for making detail parts due to limits in the basic technology.
Have fun modeling

Oh baby! I want to test one.
I found and bought some vac-u-form at Toys-R-Us about 10 years ago. Never tried it but it looks like my old Mattel (I still have it).
