Hey out there Hog Builders, I saw SOMEWHERE a couple o shots of an Alaska winter scheme A-10 that I'd like to build. Does anyone have any ideas/refs etc. on this bird and mainly if the scheme is a wrap around or not.

Much appreciated,

Here's a neat video of an RC model:

I've seen many a A-10 but never in a scheme such as that. Should prove to be a real eye catcher of a model. Looking forward to your build, and pics of that paint scheme.

Hey Joel, you say you've seen many an A-10...? how does one say "You lucky stiff...?"..!!!

It's one of my favorite aircraft. I have all the resin, PE, etc. & fixins for an A-10 build, but wanted an unusual camo scheme...well, THIS IS IT...!!

The neat thing about those shots from Jessie is that you can see major over-spray of the white which will be easy to replicate...he said smugly... ...stay tuned...

At the risk of sounding like a jerk, I got to "fly" an A-10 sim at an ANG base a few years ago. They couldn't get the AGM to load but I got to shoot down some planes, circle my house just over the trees and, by strafing, destroy not only a taxiing 747, but a Nimitz class carrier they had programmed to sail across the airport!! Not sure the programmers were 'rivet counters'.

Oh, and I successfully landed and taxiied back to the ramp.

Joel,

Do they show any interesting camo in the Osprey A-10 book?

Do a search on Pinterest. I came across some really cool schemes the other day researching for my A-10 for the Lightning campaign. I will probably chicken out and do the standard European greens/grey schemes.

Also check the italeri kit. It has a striking scheme with a huge black and yellow bolt of lightning on the side of the aircraft.

Here are a few quick snaps of some of the schemes in my books. Hope you can use them for inspiration

Fancy an angry animal face on your A-10?

Unusual greys

Gulf war test scheme - it was never adopted.

Early test scheme - there was another version with reversed colors.

Fancy some heavy weathering??

WOW...!!! Many thanks for all those shots mate. As you say, great inspiration for sure. I'm thinking though that I'd really like to tackle the Alaska scheme because it looks soooo cool to me...get it...cool...Alaska...never mind, I'll go back to my modeling hole in the basement.

i DO like the Desert Storm scheme though...hmmmmm...

I build one of the A-10 in a Snow scheme out of a two seater and it sure was an eye candy

Btw, I used Don's Color guide posted above by Jessica. I compared it with photos of the Snow Hog and it's pretty close.
