Here is a picture from the RCAF Day at Rockliffe Airbase in 1955.

The aircraft along the bottom look to be a CF-100, Sabre, Vampire, DC-3(strange looking wing attachment), Sabre, and Meteor?

At the top, I believe that is a Fairchild cargo aircraft.



Any thoughts? Could the Meteor possibly be a Canaberra? Did Canada even fly both, with the Meteor that late?

L-R in the near row:
CF-100, Sabre 2, Vampire 3, Dakota, Sabre 2, Meteor 4 (Used by Winter Experimental Establishment).
The Dakota's "strange wings" appear to be caused by the red wingtips blending into the background.

Going up the right-hand row bottom to top:
Chipmunk, Otter, Auster AOP VI.

L-R in the far row:
Expediter, C-119, Mitchell, and the last one has too many people climbing over it to tell. Possible it's another Chipmunk.

I wish we could get a decent model of the CF-100, preferably in 1/48 scale.

I'm sorry to beg to differ, but look at the shape of the tailplanes. The F.8 had straight trailing edges on the elevators while the F.4 had the rounded trailing edges similar to the Mks I through III. Both the F.4 and F.8 were tested at WEE/CEPE over the years, along with two Mk.IIIs.

Hobbycraft Canada made a CF-100 years ago. You still might be able to find them around...

It seems my Meteor recognition skills are sub-par, however a couple pics of Meteor mk4 VT196 are in Milberry's Canada's Airforce at War and Peace, and it has considerably altered nacelles, also it says the aircraft was returned to Britain in Jun'55. Anyone got a time frame of the pic?

I'm guessing the pic is early june'55, as it's an Airforce Day.

I agree with Jessie that the 'Meatbox' is an F4. The aircraft surrounded by the crowd may be a Harvard, it seems to have a prominent anti=glare panel.

I have the DF=100 in my stash with Belgian markings. If anyone would like it then I am willing to trade
