The standard kits by this manufacturer are generally old and of so-so quality, but this series is priced like the higher quality kits. Are they in league with the more expensive manufacturers?

I think most of them were repops of old kits with some resin and/or photo etch. A few had some minor revisions to the kit. The Helldiver on the other hand was a new kit and considered quite good at the time. You probably need to find someone that has the specific kit you are looking at and get their impressions. It varied greatly.

Some were repops of old Monogram kits as previously mentioned. The B-17, B-24, P-39, A-26, He 111, Ju 52, F-4, F-102, P-40, Do 335, F4U-5N, A-4, P-51B/C, B-25, and PBY-5A were all more-or less older Monogram kits with a few improvements, although the more modern of these such as the F-102, PBY, A-26, He 111 and Ju 52 were quite good to start with. Check out reviews and previous builds of these kits to find out what you're in for.

There were a few new moulds such as the Helldiver, P-47N, F-15E, F-84G, F-86D, Ta 154, Me 410 and Do-217, and a few Hasegawa repops such as the Bf-109G, Fw 190D and Ju 87R. Those were all state of the Art as of the year 2000 or so and still build into excellent models.

The Ju 88 series were Dragon kits with all the fit problems unchanged.

Any of them can be built into an excellent model with a little TLC and basic modelling skills. If you find one going at a good price, feel confident about buying it.

If you're looking for information about a specific kit, post about it here and I guarantee that one of us will have an answer for you.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking for value and buy lots of my kits at Hobby Lobby or Michael's with a 40% off coupon. HL has a Pro Modeler 1/48 ME-410 and a standard Revell Mustang in 1/32. If they are of sufficient quality, I'm tempted to buy.

Chuck,

Pro-Modeler kits are good but don't expect Tamiya or even Hasegawa quality, I have built their Me 410, Bf 110G-2, and Ta 154 kits and ended up with nice looking models.

The biggest question mark about some of the Pro-Modeler kits is the decals, on two of their kits I built the decals broke apart when placed in water.
I am currently building a Bf 110G-4 from Pro-Modeler and I used an Aeromaster decal sheet for the markings but needed to use the kits decal sheet for the small stencil markings and about half of them broke apart when placing them on the model.

Here are a couple images of the Me 410.

Here is the Bf 110G-4 in-progress.

The 410 is a newer tool, dating from about 15 years ago, so should be pretty easy to build. The 1/32 Revell Mustang, if it's the -B model dates from the late 1960s and isn't terrific. If it's a -D it may be a Hasegawa or Monogram repop.

Thanks again folks. Those are great looking models! I need to improve my airbrush skills if I want to build something looking like that.

There are some kits which started life as a Pro-modeller kit, the 410 is one of them. They're nicer kits, better surface detail etc. The fit can be hit or miss, but they're pretty solid kits.

I built the F-86D and think it is a fine model.

I think Chukw1 built the 410 in an amazingly detailed and archived build: Me 410- Promodeler plus kitchen sink

He also built the Helldiver: Helldiver, all out build!

Jessica, et al., described them well. The P.M. P-40 is not the vintage Monogram P-40B but rather the Revell P-40E; I decided not to build it, although here is the model I built from the original Revell release:

IIRC, the only bennies were weighted tires and a new pilot.

Good luck.
