The 1/48 scale Hasegawa Bf 109K-4 was finished recently, here are a few snaps of it.
The model was built SFTB, paints used were Model Master enamels and markings for ''blue 3'' came from an old Aeromaster sheet.

Les,
Awesome work! I love the period photo. But you must tell me about the 109 with four propeller blades....please.

Thanks guys!
The odd looking K-4 with the four blade propeller is a DB605L powered K-4.
The last planned production variation of the Bf 109 series was the K-14 powered with the DB605L engine driving a four blade propeller and the wings were to designed to have armament built into them. Before the K-14 production could commence the RLM dropped the Bf 109 from its production plans and at the end of the K-4 series no more 109's were to be built but some components for the K-14 were already starting to be built for the K-14 before the RLM's decision and the few sets of propellers and DB605L engines produced were set aside while Bf 109K-4's were being built ASAP, there was supposedly an interruption in supply of the standard DB 605 powerplant and permission was granted by the RLM to use the DB605L engines already built to keep the production line busy.
Since the DB605L and four blade propeller were designed to fit the K-4 airframe it was likely not a problem for the production line to fit this engine.
A couple publications claim a few K-14's made it to the frontline in the last weeks of the war but I am afraid it was just a case of mistaken identity and they were the just K-4's with the four blade propeller and DB605L.
About eight years ago I was looking at some wartime photographs that were for sale on E-bay and one photograph of a postwar aircraft scrapyard in the Soviet zone of occupation showed bits and pieces of the usual Fw 190's and 109's but in the background was a wingless Bf 109 with a four blade propeller, this could have been a K-14 but most likely was one of the DB605L powered K-4's. I hope Luftwaffe researchers will uncover more about this mystery.
BTW,
There are more pictures of the four blade propeller 109 model I built and can be found in this forum a few pages back.

Thank you Bernd!
These Hasegawa kits are getting a bit aged now but I still like them. I hope Eduard kits a Bf 109K-4 in this scale because I really do like the subtle surface detail they put on their kits.

Les,
As usual another outstanding build of the somewhat dated Hasegawa kit. Your picture presentation as usual is a joy to view.

Thanks once again Joel!
It was just a matter of time before the Hasegawa series of 109's were surpassed by other companies but aside from Hasegawa decals these older 109 kits are pure joy to put together and that's the point of this hobby right?:)
