Well as Rowan has already reviewed Eduard's 1/48th Bf 109G-6 kit here, the only thing really left to do is build the thing.
So using the Overtrees plastic parts and etch set, item No's - 82111X and 82111 Lept-1, and using Eduards online instruction sheet, I shall proceed to throw the plane together. And just to make it more interesting, I won't use any paint on it, just glue, as a warts 'n all build.
So the box pic.
P.E set
Thanks to Eduard for supplying the review samples.

First update.
Cockpit ,instrument panel and sidewalls built.
The only issue here is the rudder pedals are a little tricky to bend as the straps need threading through the buckle, not that I imagine you can see them once the fuselage is closed up (plastic parts are supplied as an alternative). Otherwise the whole thing goes together well, and the instructions are clear and precise on part location.

Hi Andy,
I am about to start building an overtrees specimen also, but mine will be fully painted, for the Hot of the Moulds campaign.
Your build should be faster than mine so I will follow your thread with keen interest
Cheers and keep it up!

Great to have you guys along, I will try and do an update a day on the build progress.
Fuselage together and the plastic set of exhausts in. Eduard do supply a P.E part for the exhaust cover if you fancy using that.
Various lumps, bumps machine gun barrel tips added.

Hi Andy
Looking good!
Hopefully, I should get back to my Gustav tomorrow after a heavy couple of weeks at work. It's been stuck at the "waiting for camo" stage for too long.
All the best

Ok, I'll bite....what kind of circumstances make a person "wait for camo"?

Hi Gary
Well, working a 7-day week for starters. (Which, flowing seamlessly on from the one before, adds up to about a fortnight away from the workbench ).
Hopefully, things should be back on more of an even keel for a couple of weeks. So, I won't hijack Andy's thread and I'll post an update on my progress tomorrow. Touch wood, I'll get my Gustav finished before I go into hospital in a few weeks' time.
All the best

Thanks Rowan, get yours finished.
Well onwards and upwards.
The tail parts have been added. There is a choice of rudder/stabiliser, depending on what marking option you decide.
One word of caution, the ariel part at he top of the stabiliser is very fragile, and after I took the pics I knocked it off, too be devoured by the carpet monster.
The rudder is fixed in the neutral position, but the elevators can be dropped.
Tail wheel added. That looks a big gap, but in normal size it is quite small and can be easily filled.

The wheel bays are fitted and the top of the wings attached.
There is pretty much no gaps to fill once attached to the fuselage.
Wing slats added. They can be modelled deployed, but if you want too close them up then you need to cut off the mounting tabs.

I have had a couple of weeks of a heavy period at work, but I did manage to build a bit nearly every day, just didn't have time to update the thread.
So next up was the various radiators and air coolers.
P.E parts for the radiator screens replace the plastic parts, but once in are pretty much hidden.
Undercarriage attached. Very easy to install.
Next up the external ordnance and canopy.

Eduard have really gone to town with the external surfaces, absolutely gorgeous.
Well the canopy is on.
And the external drop tank has been fitted.
Just a few more bits to be added and she will be finished.

Andy,
How do you feel regarding the landing gear angle? Has Eduard corrected that blooper of the "ancient" Gustav?
Cheers

Hi Pedro,
Personally I cannot compare to the old Gustav as I never had the kit, but to my eyes it looks pretty good.
Rowan or Steffen would be the best people to make the correct assumption on the legs.
The Eduard blurb on the landing gear struts.
The landing gear struts are made so that they attach at the correct angle with respect to the aircraft axis.

Hi Andy
Nice one! These "no paints or filler" reviews are really useful. I don't think I could resist the urge to finish the kit conventionally.
Touch wood, work permitting, I should get a bit more done on my Gustav this Sunday.

I am quite enjoying throwing the plastic together without having to worry about painting anything. Its also quite astonishing how fast you can actually build something with out paint.
Well he she is all built up.
I must congratulate Eduard on such a nice kit. Beautifully detailed and Tamiya qualities on the ease and fit of the build.
Thankyou all for watching and commenting, I will be back with another Bare Build soon.

You really don't need that mental image .
Next one will probably be a W.W.1 stringbag.
Thanks to everyone for watching.
