After working on my SM.81 and it's camo turning out so well I wonder if there would be interest in a campaign for the Regia Aeronautica? Time frame would be from the Spanish civil war to the end of WW2. Thoughts gentlemen?

I could be up for this! I have the Pacific Coast Macchi C.202 and 205 and this would be a great excuse for one of them.

I have a couple of ARR builds in project and some 5 suitable kits to chose from...

Excellent three interested so far! Michael I'd love to see you build one of them! Tom, Gabriel I look forward to seeing which kit you finally settle on. I've just picked up the Supermodel kit of the Cant Z 1007 bis.I may have to acquire a set of aftermarket decals but it's a good looking kit. I've also just got the Classic Airframes CR.42 so another possibility ..... actually I have quite a number of possibilities just trying to figure out when my interest became a mild obsession!

Someone gifted me a SM-79 Sparviero recently. Would love to build it. I'm in as well

Put it down the road a bit and allow hangar queens and I'll be in. I've got an Reggiane Re-2005 that needs to get done.

Awesome Raj it'll be great to see you in the campaign!
Fantastic Gaz it'd be a pleasure to have you onboard, I've no problem with hangar queens what percentage complete were you thinking?. No time frame as yet Gaz but it would be better later in the year but it's entirely up to the campaign staff I'll trust in their judgement.

Well, percentage is hard to guess. You tell me what you think: wings glued together, fuselage glued together with verticle stabs on. Canopy, landing gear, prop, and other externals off. Considering I gotta scribe some lines, scratch a new rudder, and give it a boffo paint job... Still a lot to do.
...but I promise not to put Luftwaffe markings on😇

I'd say about 50% done Gaz, still got to assemble and paint so that's fine by me after all we need to encourage the completion of projects! No luftwaffe is precisely what this campaign is about!
Michael laugh all you want my friend but the buck so to speak does stop at your door!

Sigh, true enough.
Right now the next open slot is starting in August and going six months, but if you all want to start, say, in September I'm fine with that. Let me know your preference!

Hi Michael I know later would suit Gary better so I think perhaps a September start would be ideal. However I guess that depends on getting the requisite number of interested parties!

I am in for this one. Plenty of stuff to choose from in the stash and there are a lot of cool camouflages to choosen from as well.

September sounds good.
After much deliberating agsinst myself, I decided over a short list of 2 possible builds:
1. Arado AR 196 A3 - hypothetical Romanian markings
or
2. IAR 37 bomber / recon Romanian markings.
Both kits in 1/72nd, second one from Special Hobby, the first one from Airfix.
Any thoghts?
Cheers!
Gabriel

Hi Gabriel sorry but the campaign is for Italian air-force aircraft used by either the Regia Aeronautica from the Spanish civil war to the capitulation in 1943 (German aircraft with Italian markings more than fine). And from there on used by the co-belligerent air-force on the allied side or the ANR on the German side.

Hi there
I'd definitely be up for joining in, time permitting. I've always had a soft spot for Italian aircraft and have loads in the infamous Stash.
All the best
Rowan

Aham! OK. I have a Stuka B with Italian fasces and a CR 42 (both 1/48). I thought cobelligerent means Italians + whoever fought with Jerry - my bad.
I guess I go for the Stuka.
Cheers!

Rowan it'd be great to have you along for the campaign, it's always a pleasure to watch you build.
All good Gabriel and sorry for the confusion. Co-beligerant Air-force was the title given to the Italians flying on the Allied side after the capitulation. They flew and fought on the Albanian front. So there was no way they would have to fight their countrymen.

Got it, Chris. OK. The die was cast: Ju 87B with fasces, sand over splinter camo.
Cheers!
