I have been thinking of a possible diorama, but was coming up short in ideas, until I saw an engine kit, the 1/32 Roden Hispano Suiza 8Ab, and was intrigued. I didn't know much about it, save that it had potential(which kit does not?), and so began researching it. I found that the only aircraft to have this was the SPAD 7, and that there are a number of kits of this available in 1/32.
But, I didn't want to build the SPAD as a flying machine, but as a hangar queen, one of the unfortunate flying machines which sit in the back of the shop, used for spare parts. Besides which, I'm weak when it comes to rigging, and figured this'd be a nice way to "cheat".
But, as I have found plenty of photos of the SPAD in all its glory, I have found none which would show it with even the cowling off, let alone stripped and in the back of a hangar.
And so I'm asking, before I continue, if there are any photos extant which show the SPAD in various stages of being stripped for parts.

Here are pictures of the engine installation:
They're from this page which has links to 170 others from the restoration.

Thank you. However, what I have in mind is a bit more extensive than that, sitting in the back of the hangar, with wings off, and the engine off the mount, looking very much like a sad end to a fighting flying machine.

Here is a bit I did on the Spad XIII. The Hispano Suiza used was the 200-220hp version. Unfortunately many of the image links are broken. I will add a few here.

Recently I did a review here on "The Grim Reapers" Escadeille 94. They had S.VII types at one time.

Hope this helps.

Those are more along the line of what I have in mind. Are there any photos of the 7 in a hangar, by itself?

There are some books on the Spad VII you might try.
Also the early SE 5 used the 150-170 hp Hispano - Suiza.

Well if you follow the link which talks about the 170 pictures, eventually you can get to these:

Nice!
I wonder what's up with that red fuselage in the background? It looks like something interesting.

Hey Ms Jessica, It looks like a Spad S.XVI or a variation of the S.XI?

If it is, it's been modified, judging by that slab-sided fairing around and behind the cabane struts. It looks as though it's a special record-breaker with that paint job.
EDIT: Aha! I found it! It's the Breguet 19 Super Bidon "Point d'Interrogation".

Nice Idea you have. In New York state there Is Reinbeck Aerodrome a flying museum with a Spad, they have a weekend airshow during the summer. You can get up close and personal with a Spad.
I am sorry I do not know of any museum close to you with a s SPAD.
