Here is the recently finished Hasegawa Bf 109K-4.
As usual the model was built O.O.B. decals were aftermarket from EagleCals and paints used were Model Master enamels.
The exhaust stains look overdone but the available photographs of this aircraft show it have been heavily used with extreme exhaust stains that covered a lot of the fuselage, some of the soot from the exhaust on the rear of the fuselage looked like it had been rinsed by rain or had been rubbed off, I tried to copy that same effect on my model.

Les,
Just awesome! For a minute I thought you had stumbled upon a previously unknown Luftwaffe Mistel aircraft.
Nice!

Just fantastic, Les! It looks like a hungry shark ready to feed. Can never see too many 109 pics.

Thank you Pedro!
Just a couple hours ago I started another large scale model, but not a 109.

James,
Thank you so much for the kind words!
I spent much more time looking at photographs of full size K-4's than I did on applying the weathering effects to the model.
With the late war 109's there was quite a range of weathering to be seen on them but those that had seen combat were often dirty from exhaust stains on the fuselage sides and oil leaks under the engine cowl, by the late stages of the war the Luftwaffe had a shortage of ground crew to service their aircraft because men were needed more on the front line as infantry so the remaining Luftwaffe ground crews had much less time for cleaning their aircraft between missions like they did earlier in the war which lead to some aircraft looking tattered like ''white 10'' did.

Les,
Can you share what technique you use to get that sooty rinsed look?
I want to get that precise look on one of my next single engine projects, so any help is very welcome.
Cheers,
Pedro
P.S. Wonder what's that 1/32 next project about...

Pedro,
To find out how I achieved the rinsed look on the K-4 exhaust stains look at my thread titled ''A few models in-progress'', the thread is a few pages back and it explains in detail how I made the streaked effect on the fuselage sides.

Those pics are inspiring me to try out some of the weathering techniques you used. Not saying I can achieve anything like your results but I am gonna try. Thanks for posting
