In this blog i will be building mainly fifth generation fighter jets intended to be uses for 21st century.
i will start this off with the:
Revell F-22A Raptor 1/72
Academy F-22A 1/72, and
Fujimi F-35b lightning II 1/72
Now, this is my Revell F-22 raptor that I build a while ago. I wasn’t very happy at how it looked and how it turned out, so I decided it was time to renovate it. But also because parts were breaking and they had to be fixed.
As you can see, part of the rear wing is chipped.
This wing is also loose and need fixing.
There’s a little gap here.
Now I’m getting started.
Here is revells canopy compared to academy’s canopy.
Revels canopy was looking opaque and messy, until I sanded and polished the canopy to restore it’s transparency.
I’m also using Edward photo etched detail sets and a new decal sheet.

These are the three kits I’m working on. I’m surprised I’ve still got the revel f-22 packaging.
This is academy’s f-22 seat.
One thing I don’t understand is, Why does academy have circles moulded dead on the detail?
Here’s a comparison of the fighters
These are academy’s parts.
For academy’s kit, I’m going to add revells fuel tanks on the academy f-22.
The good thing about academy is that they give you two sets of colours od clear parts.
Here are academy’s wheels compare to revels wheels.

Nice start on renovating the old kit! And comparisons of different takes on the same subject are always nice. Even though modern subjects are not my usual cup of tea, this looks really interesting.
Those are ejector pin marks. They're left by rods that are used to help push the parts off the molds. Most of the time manufacturers place on the back sides of parts or in locations where they won't be visible on the finished model, but sometimes that's not possible (or they just don't care, which feeling I sometimes get...) and they end in plain sight.

here is the Academy f-22a and the Fujimi f-35b primed.
this is when the painting started on the Academy f-22A.
I didn't really like the painting process very much because the paint kept getting little bits of dust into it, and i've tried to keep dust away from the paint but still got dust in it. i'll also mention that before this paint scheme, i painted the model in a layer of silver but then striped it because i wasn't satisfied with it.
.
here is the photo eched parts on the revell f-22.
the photo etched parts wasn't easy to put on but it was done.

Once you're done those 3, you need the Chengdu J-20 and the Sukhoi T-50 to keep them company.

Here are the finished photo's of the f-22 raptors. sorry i didn't show any more pictures during the painting but i was more focused on painting than photographing my fighter jets.
this is the back of revels model.
this is the back of academy's model.
i'll call the f-22's finished for now. although i didn't do a panel line wash, i couldn't be bothered with it for the time being. i might do a panel line in the future, but for the time being i think i have done enough.

Just as well; stealth aircraft don't have panel lines if they want to remain low-observable.

i intended to have a su-50 PAK FA in this build log but it will be a while until i do. the PAK FA is one of my favorite fighter jets so i have to get one some time in the future.
