Howdy All,
As much as I try to prevent sanding I still have to do it. As a result I loose some detail on the aircraft. Panel lines I can handle on rescribbing them, but how can I rplace rivits and bolt heads?
Thanks.
Sean

Hi Sean,
You have two alternatives:
1. Before sanding, place strips of masking tape over the rivet detail. This will stop the sanding of the rivets or raised detail taking place. Work in sections, rather than trying to mask everything off at one go.
2. If you have lost detail in sanding, here's what you can do..
a. if the detail was raised, it's pretty difficult and time consuming to replace it. You can try and make new details using a puddle of CA glue and a toothpick/sewing needle. Dip the tip of the pick or needle in the glue, take a very small bit of CA, and place at the points where you have lost the detail. This will take a lot of time and patience !
b. if detail is lowered, you can use a 0.25 mm or 0.3mm drill in a pin-vise, and make indentations by lightly turning the bit in the gaps.
HTH....
Cheers,
BP.
