Ian,
Simply beautiful! Love the camo and the fine paint job that went with it! The color at the front of the cowlings is particularly interesting. It looks like copper, but different.

Gary, thanks for the kind words. It was a challenging build but I am glad to add this one to the fleet. Still say the SM.79 is one of the sexiest multi-engines around.
Best wishes,
Ian

I have such a soft spot for this plane, and I don't even know why.
Beautiful build

Thanks Matt, I agree with you. I always thought SM.79's looked the sleekest, low level, wheels up, in the air.
Best wishes,
Ian

Hi Ian
Beautiful work!

As you say, not an easy kit - but I enjoyed mine enough to get another one (or is it two?) for the Stash. That is a superb job on the camouflage.

All the best

Great work Ian on a strangely beautiful aircraft.
Fantastic job on the camo.

Rowan---Thank you, sir. Although a difficult kit I would build another one again in a heartbeat if I ever got my hands on one. There are some nice schemes from the Spanish Civil War too.
Andy---Thank you. Yes, the Savoias are beautiful planes indeed. While I was researching this one I ran across several photos of them low level in formation and you realize what a sleek, but ominous beauty, this aircraft really is.
Happy modeling,
Ian

Beautiful! Great scheme on a great warbird. Wish somebody would kit this in 1/32 scale!
Cheers!

Thanks Rick! Yeah, I would be all over a 1/32 scale offering of the -79; even if I don't have the shelf space.
Best wishes,
Ian

Ian,
What a fantastic build of what I've heard is a rather difficult limited run kit. The overall build looks Absolutely flawless.
And your camo paint scheme, is one of the best I've ever seen. Well done my friend, very well done.
I had to read it twice that you used Poly S paints from the 80s, that's 36 years ago, and they were still in pristine condition. Even if the bottles were never opened, that's a amazing feat.

Joel, thanks so much for the kind words. I was surprised as you were about the paint. I still have several original bottles of Polly Scale from their Israeli and Italian AF color lines. One thing I did do was flip the bottles upside down about every six months to keep everything mixed. It still airbrushed on well with a few drops of Isopropyl Alcohol as thinner.
Best wishes,
Ian

Ian,
That's still amazing even if you turned the bottles every month.
