Good evening everyone, now that my Jack is 99% done I thought I would start the post for my next build. This one will be another easy one from Tamiya, the Ki-84 "Frank". I will try my first natural metal finish with this one. If it turns out well there will be some American fighters in NMF down the road
I will also be adding some eduard photo etched to the cockpit





The plane on the cover of the ref. Book is the one I hope to replicate

I started work on the Ki-84. The photo etched set is for a hasagawa kit but I will try to make it work some( not that you will see much in the tight cockpit.) I used Nakajima interior green for the base color and will weather and highlight as the build continues

I'm signing up for the build. Can't wait to see your NMF, and as Fred said with those bright red markings. it should really be quite striking display model.

So far your improvements to the cockpit look really quite good.

As for using Eduard PE meant for one aircraft on another, I do it all the time. If it's an improvement over the kit parts, then you've made the right decision.

Hi, everyone. I got to to a little work on the Frank today, lightly weathered the cockpit as you can see much with the halves togethate also painted the engine and did a little dry brushing to it but can see much of that either. I will get the wings on tonight and then hopefully fill in some gaps with putty tomorrow and prep for paint next week

So here is an update:
I got the Frank primed with valajeo gloss black primer


Then I painted is all Aluminum



I then masked off the anti-glare panel and painted it Japenese Blue Black



Then masked off the control surfaces , my reference said they were made of cloth and painted silver ..... So that is what I will paint them

Ok did a Lillie more work , I now have the red and yellow painted . Worked on the landing gear added brake lines using lead wire from Bass pro shop (fly fishing section) I also added after market guns , they are German 20mm for a 109 e but it's the closest ones I could find to the Japanese HO-5 20 mm






I have noticed a few flaws , but this is my first natural metal finish . So I will pay better attention to seams and other sanding so areas next time around

Update: worked on the Prop , added the gunsight and annetana mast.
The gun sight was a pain in the A$$ I only managed 1 glass reflector ... Sorry

Next are decals but still waiting on the to arrive in the mail. A little weathering and the panel lines then I can call this one finished

Update: Hi everyone !! No I didn't forget about this plane even though I have been working on my P-40B for the power of four campaign.
So decals are on, the weathering didn't come out as good as I was hoping .... The exhaust stain is a little to heavy but I I'll blame it on poor fuel used by the Japanese during the late part of the war !!!






The only remaining items are the landing lights and the antennae
