Starting my Revell 1/48 B-17. Got the Eduard details. starting on the nose section. Eduard shows a kit part #48 which is the base/stabilizer for the Norden Bombsite. The kit instructions do not show this part and there is no part 48 on any of the trees. I think it really needs one as the top portion of the bombsight is shown being attached directly to the floor. Any thoughts? Scratchbuild?

OK, senior moment. looked at the bombsight again. they have molded the base with the upper sight. must have been two parts on a previous issue. Duh!

You are right about the bombsight. The earlier issues had a two parter that was pretty poor. Much better one now! Enjoy the build, it is a lot of fun. Has a few fit issues but it will make you a better modeler

There is a bombsite in the Verlinden B-17 set. Cant vouch for it other than to say it looks better than the kits, and is smaller too. The verlinden set may help you with your model:

No too expensive , $20 or so and easy to find.

I have no specific tips for joining the fuselage halves of the B17 but in general this is a very important step. Dry fit before glue-ing.
