Hello all,
Here is my completed Mirage IIIC, French air force, from 2/10 "Seine"squadron.
This is the Hobby Boss kit,the only addition being a resin MB Mk4 resin seat.
Kit began its career under another scheme (desert scheme, for the Djibuti based 3/10 Mirage) but unfortunately I've been spilling isopropyl alcohol on the paint and had to completely strip it, hence windshield being a bit opaque and seams not as tight as they should be.
Feel free to comment
Best,
Stef (#6)

I think it looks great! Your weathering and panel lines are subtle very natural looking.
Well done!

Hi Stef
She's a beauty. Sorry to read about your earlier problems. I sympathise having spilt a whole pot of Tamiya extra thin on my workbench and the wing of the Itaerli IIIc I'm working on.
With best wishes and congratulations

Nice save. The repaint into a different scheme really looks quite nice, with just the right amount of weathering.
If the windscreen bothers you, which I didn't even notice till I read what you wrote, you can mask it out, then polish it back to it's original and even better clarity.

Thanksfor the kind words, Joel.
Infortunately, the windshield case is quite hopeless.
I've been using Tamiya compound and even tried Micromesh, but I think the issue is with the innner side.
Best,
Stéphane

Hi Stef,
Very nice 'classic' colour scheme for the Mirage - VERY nice and realistic natural metal finish too.

Hello All,
Thanks a lot for the kind words.
Yes, the Mirage III is beautiful, certainly one of the nicest deltas alongwith F-106, B-58 and another franco-english built, the Concorde ....

Bonjour Stef,
your Mirage looks great!
I especially like the way how you created the look of the "exchange" cover right after the radar nose... just perfect!
What did you use for creating the chipping effect?
Best regards,
Sebastian

Hello,
Thanks, glad you like the Mirage
The chipping was done using an armor technique, using hairspray.
First, a coat of AK metallics, then a coat of haispray, allowed to dry for 10 minutes.
Next the blue, here Gunze acryls, diluted with plain water, and then again, allowed to dry for 10 minutes.
It's next chipped using a strong wide brush with water.
Hope this help,
Best,

Thanks Stef for quick reply!
I have to try this Hairspray technique in near future.

Sebastian

You're welcome
You'll find in this Picasa album some build photo and around the middle 3-4 photos about the hairspray chipping.
