Hai,
did anyone already use Humbrol enamel gloss black as base coat for alclad aluminium?
If yes, what about the results?

I did, I waited 2-3 days for the Humbrol to completely dry, it worked. However the best solution for me was decanted Tamiya TS spray gloss black, also after some days of drying.

Thanks.
I now tried Tamiya X1 black and it was so bad that I removed it again (not an easy task)

Drabslab,
I've used Alcad's Gloss Black, Tamiya's Gloss Black, & Model Master's Gloss black all with equal results. The trick for me is to really thin the paint, and apply it in very light coats with a low psi flow rate. Of course I also apply these undercoats over Gray primer that is really thinned out as well. All the base coats once dried are lightly rubbed out, which for me is a plain lint free cloth.

I have been using Tamiya x-1 as base coat before with good results but this time results were simply awful.
Probably the modellers gremlin that struck home
I try will humbrol this weekend, wait a week and then do the alclad

I varied the effect of the Alclad paints I used by changing between gloss and semi gloss Tamiya paints. I have not bothered leaving much time between the black and the the Alclad. Alclad paints work best on fully black paint - I also experimented with varying the tone of the black base and did not like the effect.

Now that is important information!!!
I was considering of doing just that: paint it all glos black, and then do some panels with some dark grey.
Apparently, I better keep it simple

It happened me too, Alclad seemed to react or mix with Tamiya acrylic this is why I went for the TS lacquer spray or enamels.
