Edo,
Just a great job of detailing. The last picture really shows the amount of detailing you've accomplished, especially all the wiring and plumbing.

thank you terri and joel! you encouragemt is really appreciated!
I really like adding pipes... i find it very rewarding.
besides, looking at pictures of the real plane I find that cabling and piping is overwhelming...

Awesome project, with all the extra detailing on this kit which is excellent right out of the box.

Hi all!
This project is really huge! But I am now in the situation in which the model's box is sadly almost empty...
I cannot decide myself in gluing the fusolage, but one of the next night it will have to be...ùso this is my last chanche to show you the inerior. Problem is, it is such a big plane that the mere photographying is difficult...ùAnyway, here are some pics: I hope you'll like them...

I also finished the wings. Here is the left one.

Again, I hope you'll like it, any comment is most welcome!!

Great work on this build Eduardo! The detailing work is why I love working in big scale planes and F-1 cars. It is so much more rewarding when you can run all the correct lines, etc. Even though most of them are hidden, you know they are there!

I wondering if you could give some detail on the methods for painting the underside of the wings. I love the discoloration along the panel lines. I also really like the rivet heads showing in the white roundels especially the topside of the wing.

Keep the good stuff coming!

hey! thank you all for the kind comments!
Matt, you are completely right! I am not sure at all, but I could not resist to have that red showing.... call it modeller's licence!
Patick! thank you again! maybe because I built a lot of wwii planes during my young age, I find them quite boring today:too sleek too stremlied, all closed up under the fusolage.... but this one is fantastic! so much to do and to show, real fun!
being my first wwii subject afer so many years, i am not a master at all, so don't take my world too seriuosly .
Anyway, for the underside of the wing, I used Tamiya flat white as a base coat. Then I used Tamiya smoke to highlight the panel lines (if you happen to overdo it, just overcoat again in white to smooth it off). After a coat of Clear, I washed the panel lines with a mix of raw umber and black oils.
The decals are thick in my opinion and even with microsol, they just hide the rivets, so i drilled them out with a pin wise: fortunately the rivets can be seen notwistanding the decals and the scale is so big that you can easily find a drill of the appropriate size! then the wash and a coat of Tamiya clear flat to finish it off.
I hope it helps!

Edoardo,
what an impressive build! It is just stunning! A real perfect look. And how did You got the wings movable? Home made tenders are great, too. I just love it!

Congrats!

hey Oliver! thank you for your kind comments!
The wing parts are held together by means of an iron peg that is included in the kit. You can see it in the close up picture of the wheel. So it is just a metter of carful glueing to let the wing articulate. Actually I also took some artistic licence, as the black pipes I run through the hole in the wing wall should not be there, in fact they take the place of a plastic part representing an hidraulic connection which is rigid and it would have made it impossible for the wing to fold.
For the pipes be careful not to use lead or copper of the appropriate diameter, both are flexible but will break after just a fiew swing, as I learnt at my own expense... Use instead vinil which is completely flexible and, actually, more like the real thing. Also the aerlion (which I took the licence to paint the interior in red) should not be open if the wing is folded as it actually hits the fixed part of the wing when moving, I force it in place, but in the real thing it wuold be impossible.
I hope it helps!
thank you again,
ciao
