Anyone have an idea?
Below is a rendering of some sort of air-race plane which I painted around the mid-eighties (canvas size approx. 15” x 24”). Prior to the painting, I scratch-built a balsa wood model (scale forgotten — nose-to-tail length approx. 12”). I remember scaling up the dimensions from a small line drawing which appeared in a model magazine. My model included a slip-off removable cowl, working elevator and rudder with control rods reaching into the cockpit. Nearly completed, I never had the heart to cover the exposed framework, so it remained in that state until its demise during a subsequent move in 1996. 🤕
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers! 🍺

The shape suggests that the original plane was build around 1930 for one of those historic speed trophy's.

It looks quite similar to the Williams Bros. Shoenfeldt Firecracker, with a slightly different radiator and exhaust system, or slightly similar to a Caudron racer with less streamlining around the nose, however I think both of those had retractable gear.

Hey Mike,
Good to see you found it! The enclosed cockpit threw things off. Most really didn't have them.

Brian,
Now that you mention it ... I remember the enclosed cockpit, air intake, exhaust stacks, race number, and the pilot's name 😁 were "artistic license" on my part.
Thanks all, for helping me land this one! KitMaker Network rules!
Cheers!🍺
